One email. A bigger canvas for light.
SZ Filters’ account begins with an email from the production team: bring the movement, reflections and changing light of its 77mm liquid filters into a 138mm cinema format. The brand describes building and refining the pieces by hand, testing the relationship between the liquid, its particles, the light and the camera. Turn a liquid filter and the elements inside shift; the reflections change with them. Keeping that character was central to the larger versions.
The Gem: color in Kylie Jenner’s entrance
SZ Filters describes The Gem becoming part of Kylie Jenner’s winged entrance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Tiny diamonds suspended in liquid catch the light, creating shifting reflections and halos of color directly in camera. Movement is part of the effect: the brand also explored a liquid that lets the crystals fall more slowly, giving those colorful reflections more time to linger.

The Midas Touch: gold in motion
The Midas Touch brings golden particles into the liquid. As they move and catch the light, warm, changing halos become part of the image. In the brand’s account, the red runway lighting gives that movement another layer of texture. The clip below preserves the example shared by SZ Filters; it is not a controlled comparison or an independent measurement by The Camera Post.

A few favorite cinematic moments
The show brought together many different visual treatments. This short edit collects some of the moments that caught the brand’s eye: changing color, reflections and light in motion. This is a general montage of the show. Not every effect in this edit is attributed to SZ Filters.
Thank you for being part of the journey
Thank you to SZ Filters for sharing the workbench story, product photographs and selected clips behind this feature. In its original account, the brand thanks the production team who trusted it with the challenge and everyone who supported its work. Every photographer and filmmaker who experiments with the filters gives the team another reason to keep exploring. This is an adaptation of that brand account, not a claim that The Camera Post independently documented the production or that the show sponsors this publication.
There’s more to 138mm.
The Gem and The Midas Touch are part of SZ Filters’ wider 138mm cinema-filter collection, alongside looks including Vortex, Stardust and Geometric Light. The brand invites filmmakers with another effect in mind to discuss their project, availability and production time. Consult the official product pages for the current configuration and purchasing details.
